Miamisburg firm inks energy agreement with Cincinnati

Solar Power & Light, an off-shoot of Miamisburg firm, said this week that the city of Cincinnati has agreed to purchase power through the firm for 20 years.

Solar Power & Light partnered with two other firms, Dovetail Solar and Wind, and Tremco Roofing & Building Maintenance, to submit the winning request for proposal to provide power to Cincinnati, the local company said in an announcement.

Last year, buyCastings formed Solar Power & Light to help arrange the installation of solar panel arrays for businesses and governments. One of SP&L’s first customers was buy-Castings itself. buyCastings, which matches metal buyers with foundries and suppliers, was founded about 11 years ago in Kettering before moving to Miamisburg in late 2008.

Cincinnati has decided that the College Hill Recreation Center will be the first project site where a 154 kilowatt solar power system will be installed, SP&L said. The value of the system was put at $600,000.
