Solar Power & Light, LLC (SP&L) was founded in Miamisburg, Ohio as a spin-off of INC5000-recognized parent company buyCASTINGS.com. Our management team has operated in the Ohio market since 2000, pioneering Power Purchase Agreements in the state and launching proprietary Integrated Development Teaming™ (IDT) methodology in 2012.

SP&L serves commercial, industrial, educational, and municipal clients, consistently delivering measurable energy cost reductions, risk mitigation, and progress toward net-zero goals. As federal contractors leveraging shared infrastructure across affiliates, SP&L operates as a lean, high-performance organization.

Our core management — Neil Chaudhry (CEO) and Greg Akers (Business Development Executive) — bring over 25 years of experience building and leading successful collaborative project teams for complex requirements.

2010
SP&L founded. One of Ohio's first companies to offer Power Purchase Agreements to the municipal market, including the City of Cincinnati.
2012
Launched Integrated Development Teaming™ (IDT) platform. Won City of Cincinnati's inaugural solar RFP — installed 500 kW across city buildings.
2017
Portfolio grows to 29 renewable energy sites totaling 15+ MW. Won $1M DOE Sunshot Award in collaboration with Stanford Research Institute.
2024-
Selected for negotiations to develop 150–300 MW ($200M–$450M) of utility-scale solar in and around Ohio. Site control secured for 50–150 MW.

Solar Power and Light, LLC was launched in May 2010 as a spin-off from buyCASTINGS.com, Inc., an Inc. 500/5000 company. Reduced to address growing demand for clean, renewable energy solutions in the United States and to support America’s transition toward a sustainable energy economy.

Since inception, SP&L has focused primarily on public-sector clients, including schools, colleges, cities, and villages. These organizations rely on SP&L to design, install, own, and operate solar photovoltaic systems under long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), enabling immediate savings with minimal upfront capital investment.
